SEO Forum Watch: Let the Watching Begin!
May 28th, 2007 by Brittany
Well, it’s my first blog post in ages and as I prepared to segue back into the search engine industry, I found myself pondering over which direction I should take. I could join the unfathomable mass of bloggers rambling off their own opinions of the hidden truths behind search engine optimization (SEO) and search engine marketing (SEM). I considered it momentarily, and then decided to try a different approach.
One of the things I love most about the search engine industry is that it’s constantly changing. Words of advice to anyone considering becoming a search engine blogger: with everything being discussed in the forums and on leading SEO and SEM authority sites, staying in tune and keeping your readers informed on what’s happening in search requires and on-your-toes style of reporting and some dedicated journalism. Having laid low the past three years after retiring as editor for a very successful search engine newsletter and a forum with over 50,000 members, I started researching the industry long before I decided to create this website.
Here’s something that boggles my mind: a relatively untouched portion of the search engine industry is its online communities – at least when it comes to blogging material. It’s no secret that there is a wealth of search engine optimization and search engine marketing knowledge to be found across various forums. Search engine forums like Webmasterworld, SearchEngineWatch and even WebProWorld receive thousands of hits per day. Additionally, the search forums have tens of thousands of members posting hundreds of thousands of threads. Those threads cover topics including search engine optimization, search engine marketing, pay per click advertising, Google Adwords and Adsense, and more. Ask any SEO or SEM expert where you should start looking if you’re interested in learning the tricks of the trade, and you’ll probably be directed to an online community for starters.
Of course, with any online community, there are rumors and false claims floating around on the search engine forums. However, there is also a lot of timely knowledge just waiting to be found. Why so many bloggers and journalists overlook the importance of what is happening in the search engine communities and online business forums is beyond me.
That’s why I’ve decided to start looking for the gems of posts across some of the major SEO and SEM forums, and share them here.
SEO Forum Watch will be your one-stop for anything that’s happening across the search engine forums.
